defects

I was about to buy a MacBook when I stumbled upon AppleDefects. Now I think it might be better to get an old ThinkPad rather than a new MacBook…

  1. Hi Dominik,

I have just purchased a new MacBook, unfortunately it was damaged in transit by the couriers, so I called Apple and their customer service was the best, I had a brand new MacBook delivered the very next day !

It is truly a remarkable piece of engineering, built the very highest standards, super fast, super quiet and super powerful. With leopard web pages load quicker than I can blink !

I also purchased an IBM Lenovo 3000 N200 (BLUK) which comes with the option of XP Pro or Vista. I am running XP Pro with, Fedora 8 and I am very pleased with it.

If there was a website for every manufacturer, say DellDefects, HPDefects, etc etc, you would think twice about purchasing any computer !

I have never had a problem with my iMac or my iBook. I once dropped my iBook and it just carried on working away as if nothing had happened !

    All the best

  2. hey dominik,

I really like apple and working with mac os x is a great pleasure. I worked on it during my DLR activities and it was really an effective working. you can`t compare it with working on windows – or a badly configured linux system. 😉

on the other hand: new mac hardware is not very cheap. I went the way buying an old economy class IBM thinkpad with pentium III mobile and 1,13 ghz. the machine works very fast with xp and I can do all the stuff I like to do on a mobile computer (although the 3D-capabity etc. is very low). the advantage of this way: I safed some money.

another advantage my thinkpad T3: it is very easy to upgrade hardware. there is a slot to easy upgrade ram, to install a new hard disc or to install a new storage battery. you can just take out the storage battery within one second.
